Nothing Like a Tidy Mind
If it’s true what they say about a clean house signifying a wasted life, then my life is anything but wasted. I have been accused of pursuing higher education in order to legitimately escape the drudgery of domestic duties. There is only so much time in a day, I feel, and the less time spent on housecleaning, the better. While I may not be taking classes to excuse my lack of diligence in the area of housely duties, I do remember being chased by my older sister as I ran out of the house shrieking, “I won’t clean the bathroom! I won’t!” True story, just ask her. Fortunately this occurred eons ago, as opposed to yesterday.
Recently an acquaintance offered to come over to my house and pick up some movies that were needed for a class. Now, I may be comfortable with a less than tidy environment, but, I certainly would not subject an innocent bystander to my chaos. In fact as I look into the living room, I see a cadre of 8 panda bears that the kids have placed on every horizontal surface they could find. Upon closer inspection I see a stuffed turtle and a chicken as well. They must have been included for diversity. So, I told him I would be glad to deliver the movies to his office.
I know that I should be doing a thousand other things right now, including housecleaning. But I find that if I don’t release these thoughts from the confines of my mind, they will just fester. Maybe they will get infected too, I don’t know. So the best thing to do is purge my brain, and then do some homework. Aaah, nothing like a tidy mind.

I have heard that saying before – then I hear – cleanliness is next to Godliness…So it can go either way. Me on the other hand, we both know I have plenty of time on my hands so my house is usually sparkling. However, once my days start to get filled up more and such – I don’t think I will be quite as anal about how clean my kitchen is or spending 45 minutes cleaning the bathroom!!
One of my friends on the other hand is a nut about cleaning and will not allow anyone over unless her home is showroom quality spotless. Mind you she has twins to deal with along with her other daughter as well as a full time job working from home and she will still manage to have dinner ready for her family. She is like clockwork. Which to me is an insane way to live, but, to her, it’s important and the only thing she knows & relies on.
Ah, what interesting creatures we can be!
What a great approach you have on it through – a not so cleanly/organized home = tidy mind! I might have to use that one day!

DO I NEED TO COME OVER AND CHASE YOU AROUND YOUR KITCHEN??? YOU HAVE THE RIGHT IDEA. I WISH I COULD LEARN TO RELAX AND ENJOY EACH DAY FOR WHAT IT IS. LIFE IS TOO SHORT FOR ANYTHING ELSE.
